Michael Schumacher's manager confirms that the Formula 1 legend is out of his coma.

The manager of Michael Schumacher has confirmed that the Formula 1 legend is no longer in a coma and has left the hospital in Grenoble where he was being treated for serious head injuries.

The 45-year-old has had constant medical assistance since he hit his head on a rock while skiing off-piste in the French resort of Meribel on December 29.

During his stint in hospital, reports emerged of fears that the seven-time world F1 champion could be left in a permanent vegetative state, but his manager Sabine Kehm revealed in recent months that the sportsman has been going through the waking-up process.

It has now been confirmed by Schumacher's management in a statement that he has left the hospital and will continue his rehabilitation at an undisclosed location.

The statement read: "Michael has left the CHU Grenoble to continue his long phase of rehabilitation. He is not in a coma anymore.

"His family would like to explicitly thank all his treating doctors, nurses and therapists in Grenoble as well as the first aiders at the place of the accident, who did an excellent job in those first months."

Schumacher's family also expressed their gratitude towards those that had sent messages of support by saying, "we are sure it helped him".
