World number three Maria Sharapova has launched her own brand of sweets called 'Sugarpova'.
The 25-year-old, who holds claim to a career grand slam, unveiled the range in New York today, admitting that the idea had come to her agent "over a couple of drinks".
Sugarpova comes in a dozen varieties, ranging from 'Flirty' to 'Sassy' and 'Chic', plus a variety of tennis ball-style sweets called 'Sporty'.
"I wanted to own something 100% me," Sharapova explained. "Where I make all the final decisions; here I'm involved from start to finish; where I was bringing in my own people I want to work with and investing my own money. I wanted fun and young and nothing too serious. That's how it came about with candy."
The candy range is available in New York boutiques, worldwide hotel minibars and sugarpova.com.
