Sky Sports has won the rights to broadcast Major League Soccer games for the first time, starting with the upcoming 2015 season.
The deal is scheduled to run for the next four years, and will see the broadcaster air games involving Steven Gerrard's Los Angeles Galaxy and Frank Lampard's New York City FC.
MLS, which was originally launched in 1996, has seen a rapid increase in viewing figures in recent years with the addition of star names, while 20 teams are set to contest in the league next season following the inclusion of New York City and Orlando City.
Managing director of Sky Sports, Barney Francis, welcomed the news by saying: "Football in the US and Canada has enormous potential for growth and we can't wait to bring this competition to our viewers for the first time.
"Thierry Henry has joined us, he created fantastic memories in MLS, and we look forward to seeing more of those great stories from across the Atlantic.
"We offer an unrivalled range of sport across our seven channels and we are always looking to offer more choice. After recently adding football from Holland, Italy and UEFA European qualifiers, we are delighted to now add MLS to that list."
The MLS season gets underway on March 7.
