A dozen poisonous snaked were found at the venue of an I-League match between Mohun Bagan and Arrows in India on Sunday.
The snakes were spotted both on the pitch at the Kalyani Stadium in Kolkata and near the dressing rooms after the full-time whistle.
No-one was bitten by the snakes that were removed by officials of the Kalyani Municipality from the stadium, which will not be banned from hosting further I-League matches.
"No, we haven't taken such a decision yet," I-League CEO Sunanda Dhar told the Indian Express.
"But we have instructed the authorities to take proper measures to ensure that snakes are removed from the premises of the stadium."
Kalyani Municipality chairman PK Sur later claimed that the local area was infested with snakes because of the hot weather.
