Reeva Steenkamp did not love six-time Paralympic champion Oscar Pistorius, her cousin has told a court in South Africa.
Pistorius is facing a 15-year jail term after killing Steenkamp by shooting her four times through a toilet door in his home in Pretoria in the early hours of Valentine's Day in 2013.
The double amputee was initially handed a five-year sentence after being found guilty of culpable homicide (manslaughter), but after serving less than a year in prison, the conviction was upgraded to murder on appeal.
A fresh sentencing hearing began on Monday, and today, Steenkamp's cousin told the court that Pistorius, who maintains that he mistook Steenkamp for an intruder when he fired the gun, has not been honest.
"I never heard him apologise," Ms Martin told the court. "I don't feel the true version came out. We just wanted the truth.
"I saw pictures of them at a red carpet event and I later called her and asked her about it and she confirmed that it was true. She told me that he was a nice guy.
"I don't think she loved him. I think she had a soft spot for him."
In court today, Pistorius sobbed as he removed his prosthetic legs to demonstrate his limited movement without them.
