Michael Schumacher's family insist that the continued support is giving the F1 legend "strength" as he remains in hospital following a skiing accident.

The family of stricken Formula 1 legend Michael Schumacher have insisted that the continued support is giving the sportsman "strength" following his skiing accident.

The 45-year-old, who is currently in the process of being awoken from an induced coma, has been in Grenoble University Hospital since he hit his head on a rock while skiing off-piste in the French Alps on December 29.

While there have been no recent significant updates on his health, French investigators confirmed this week that safety breaches did not contribute to the sportsman's accident.

On Schumacher's official website, his family posted the message: "We are deeply touched by all the messages to get well soon for Michael which still are being sent from all over the world.

"This incredible support gives us and him strength. Thank you all so much! We all know Michael is a fighter, and will not give up!"

Schumacher, who is a seven-time F1 champion, has undergone two operations on his brain since being taken to hospital.
