Team Sky apologises after a video showing the team's bus forcing an amateur cyclist off the road in North Wales went viral on social media.

Team Sky bosses have apologised to an amateur rider who was nearly knocked down by the team's bus and admitted that the standard of driving was "unacceptable".

Cyclist Andy Rolfe uploaded the video from his helmet camera on social media following the near miss, which forced him to the edge of the road as the bus steered to avoid an oncoming lorry.

Rolfe has since been offered an apology by Team Sky on Twitter, who say that they will 'remind drivers of their responsibilities' on the road following the incident in North Wales.


"Encouraging people to get out and on their bikes is a huge part of what we stand for as a team," a statement read. "We are a team of cyclists and we know how important it is for us to set an example when it comes to ensuring cyclists are able to use the roads safely.

"What is shown in the video is unacceptable and we are sorry. We've already spoken to the driver and we'll be discussing this with him again in more detail. We will also be speaking to all staff and reminding them of their responsibilities."

Team Sky was founded in 2010 and has been behind the Tour de France triumphs of both Bradley Wiggins and most recently Chris Froome.
