A Japanese gymnast competing at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro has run up a phone bill of almost £4,000 playing Pokemon Go.
Kohei Uchimura, a six-time world champion, was shocked to learn that he had spent more than 500,000 yen on data charges while playing the popular game in the Athletes' Village in Brazil.
After getting in touch with his phone operator, they reportedly took a kind view of the situation and committed to reduce his bill to a daily charge of 300 yen (£22) with no data cap.
The augmented reality game, which has an estimated 9.5 million daily users, has been previously criticised for its heavy use of data as well as battery charge.
Uchimura is appearing in Rio to defend his individual all-round gold medal from London 2012.
