Sampdoria president Massimo Ferrero has requested the postponement of his side's Serie A match against Fiorentina following the collapse of a motorway bridge in Genoa.
The game is scheduled to take place on Sunday evening, just five days on from 39 people being killed when the Morandi bridge buckled in bad weather.
With the city in mourning, however, La Samp are awaiting a response from league chiefs over whether the match can be rearranged for another day.
Serie A officials are expected to make a decision on Friday afternoon.
Genoa, who also play their home matches at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris, are away at AC Milan on the same day.
