Former Southampton youth officer Bob Higgins has been accused of routinely showering naked with young players during his time working for the Malta FA.

Higgins has been the subject of several allegations over the last week as part of the growing investigation into historical sexual abuse of young footballers, with former Saints star Matt Le Tissier recently claiming that he had been given a naked massage by Higgins during his time with the club.

Now a former Malta youth footballer has alleged to the BBC that in the early '90s, Higgins used to touch his leg while being taken on car journeys and would regularly join players for a shower after training sessions.

"It was very normal for Bob Higgins to get naked and have a shower with us," he said. "No-one was allowed to leave without having a shower, then he used to come in and a have shower with us."

Higgins, who was previously acquitted of sexual abuse charges in 1992, denies any allegations of wrongdoing.
