Jimmy Greaves's agent Terry Baker has confirmed that the former England striker is "conscious but unable to speak" after suffering a severe stroke.
The 75-year-old's wife Irene revealed earlier today that her husband was aware of the seriousness of what had happened after being admitted to hospital on Sunday.
He remains in intensive care, but is conscious although can't yet bring himself to speak, according to PA.
During his career, Greaves scored 44 goals in 57 games for his country and also netted a club-record 266 times in 379 matches for Tottenham Hotspur.
