Tottenham Hotspur striker Jermain Defoe has learned that he is not the father of his ex-girlfriend Anne-Marie Moore's baby boy.
The England international admitted earlier this month that he felt "blessed" to be the father of newborn Joshua-James.
Despite expressing his delight in becoming a dad for the first time, a DNA test has since been taken to prove that the 30-year-old is not the child's biological father.
"Following a paternity test, Jermain Defoe has confirmed that he is not the father of the baby born on February 19 2013," The Independent quotes the striker's spokesman as saying.
"Jermain vowed to support the mother after she claimed she was expecting his child but DNA test results have proved that the baby is not his. He will be making no further comment."
Joshua-James was born in February.
