Tottenham Hotspur are granted permission to play all of their remaining 2018-19 fixtures at Wembley Stadium should construction on their new ground drag on.

Tottenham Hotspur have confirmed that permission has been granted by the relevant bodies to stay at Wembley Stadium for the remainder of 2018-19 should they need to.

The Lilywhites' move into their new 62,000-capacity ground, with the opening day originally set for September 15, has been constantly pushed back.

Spurs revealed in October that they will continue to play all of their fixtures at the home of English football until the start of 2019 at the earliest, but there are concerns that their ground will not be ready until the spring.

Contingency plans are now in place should construction work continue into the second half of the season, as Tottenham have struck a deal with Wembley National Stadium Ltd (WNSL) to stay there until the middle of May.

A Spurs statement read: "As a contingency measure to ensure we can stage our matches whilst we await certainty on the exact opening date of our new stadium, the club has reached agreement with WNSL to host any additional home games that we may have to play at Wembley Stadium.

"As announced previously, we shall look to provide a further update on stadium progress in early December."

An application will be submitted to Brent Council for a variation on the capacity cap for any cup games to be held at Wembley, which is currently set at 62,000.
