Students at the University of the West of Scotland will broadcast live footage of St Mirren's games to viewers around the globe.

Online station St Mirren TV will be run by students taking courses in sports journalism, journalism, filmmaking and broadcast production.

The project, which will launch on Saturday, will involve football content as well as features focusing on the Paisley community.

"This is a really fantastic development for the club and in particular for our fans who have had to move away from the area," said St Mirren chief executive Brian Caldwell.

"Now, they can subscribe to our dedicated online channel and watch their heroes battle for promotion from the Scottish Championship.

"Both St Mirren and UWS are firm believers in supporting and being part of the community, so we feel this is an essential part of what St Mirren TV will offer. By mixing our coverage with what's happening in Paisley and wider Renfrewshire, we will be giving our fans across the world a real taste of home."

The station, which will work alongside St Mirren Radio, will broadcast this weekend's clash against Dumbarton to viewers outside of the UK.
