Former WBO middleweight world champion Chris Eubank has made Alan Partridge's 'youth hostel' dream a reality by starring in a mock ad.
Eighteen years ago, Partridge, played by Steve Coogan, pitched the idea of 'Youth Hostelling With Chris Eubank' to BBC executives, and now booking website Hostelworld has picked it up.
In a tongue-in-cheek ad, Eubank, who just last week wrote on Twitter that he was not aware of the joke, is shown around a hostel to check out what it has to offer, such as bunkbeds and free internet.
In a statement, the retired boxer said: "Up until recently, I had absolutely no idea why people used to mention hostels to me and smile. It was truly an unsolved mystery to me.
"'Youth Hostelling with Chris Eubank' has now become a reality and finally, albeit a little embarrassed and ashamed, I'm in on the joke 18 years after Alan Partridge pitched it!"
