Work at West Ham United's new Olympic Stadium home has been halted following the death of a worker.
The Metropolitan Police confirmed that a 44-year-old sub-contractor was found dead at the East London venue on Sunday morning.
"Officers were called to the stadium at 07:30 [BST] this morning, Sunday, June 28, to reports of a person having fallen from the stadium to the ground and being unconscious," a police statement read.
"The man was unresponsive when officers arrived at the scene. The London Ambulance Service attended and the man was pronounced dead shortly before 08:00. Formal identification has not yet taken place. However, officers are confident that they know the identity of the deceased."
A consultant for the construction company overseeing the site added that "all work on site has stopped" while the matter is investigated further. Police are not treating the death as suspicious.
West Ham are due to move into the Olympic Stadium next summer, while the ground will also play host to the Rugby World Cup this autumn.
