Wolverhampton Wanderers have announced that their former player Peter Broadbent has passed away at the age of 80.
Broadbent, who suffered a long battle with Alzheimer's, signed for the club from Brentford for a then club-record fee of £10,000.
He then went on to score 145 goals in 497 appearances and also featured in the side that won the Football League title in 1954.
A statement on the club's official website said: "It was with great sadness this morning that the club heard of the death of Peter Broadbent – a man regarded by many as the greatest ever to don the old gold and black."
Broadbent was also included in the England squad for their 1958 World Cup campaign.
