Ryan Hall: 'England's Four Nations destiny in our own hands'

Ryan Hall acknowledges that beating New Zealand by a 10-point margin will be tough, but remains confident that England can get the job done.

Ryan Hall has insisted that England are still in the running for a place in the Four Nations final.

Steve McNamara's men take on New Zealand tomorrow in the knowledge that a win of 10 points or more will see them overhaul the Kiwis, while defeat will almost certainly spell the end of their campaign.

New Zealand have not yet lost a game in the four-team tournament, although Hall remains confident that his side can still progress to the final.

"We know what we need to do, that's the good thing about it," he is quoted as saying by the Yorkshire Evening Post. "Our destiny is in our own hands and if we get the job done we are in the final.

"That's what we all want to do and a big performance is needed. Beating the Kiwis is pretty tough at any time and having to beat them by 10 points is even tougher, but we have done it before – at KC Stadium in 2011 – and we need to do that again."

England beat Samoa in their opening Four Nations game, before falling to a narrow 16-12 defeat against Australia last time out.
