England's Sam Burgess has been handed a one-match suspension for a high tackle during Saturday's World Cup opener against Australia.
The 24-year-old had been placed on report by referee Henry Perenara after he had caught Sam Thaiday on the head with a flailing arm.
Burgess now has until 11am tomorrow to either accept the charge or launch an appeal.
Should he accept the findings, the South Sydney Rabbitohs player will miss the next group encounter against Ireland, which will be played in Huddersfield on Saturday.
It has been reported that Canterbury Bulldogs prop James Graham is in contention to replace Burgess.
