England captain Kevin Sinfield has said that the he is "devastated" after missing the tackle that allowed Shaun Johnson to book New Zealand's place in the Rugby League World Cup final.
Steve McNamara's side entered the game as underdogs and were within seconds of victory at Wembley when the NZ Warriors half-back scored a try and conversion to break the hearts of the home fans.
"I'm pretty devastated," PA quotes the 33-year-old Leeds Rhinos star as saying.
"We gave it everything we had. To be so close yet so far away at the end is horrible.
"I actually felt the best team lost. To lose in the last 20 seconds is a killer. I don't think by any means we had the game won but I felt we were in control."
The Kiwis will take on Australia in the final, after they overcame Fiji 64-0.
