England shooter Michael Gault has announced his retirement from competitive shooting after participating in his sixth Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
The 60-year-old won a bronze in the 10-metre air pistol event at the weekend for his 18th podium finish, equaling the record for most medals won by a single athlete at the games.
After missing out on a place in the 50m pistol competition and a chance to hold the record outright, Team England announced on Twitter: "Michael Gault OBE announces his retirement from competitive shooting after equalling the all-time Commonwealth Games medal tally."
Gault's 18th medal win leaves him level with Australian shooter Phillip Adams.
