Amber Hill has claimed that it is not in her character to aim for anything less than gold ahead of the Commonwealth Games later this month.
The 16-year-old will be a member of England's clay target team in Glasgow, and she is hoping to earn valuable experience of competing at the highest level as she steps up her preparations for the Rio Olympics in two years.
"Rio is my dream and that is what I am working towards, and the Commonwealth Games should provide a great insight into the sort of thing I can expect," Hill is quoted as saying by BBC Sport.
"I'm definitely going for gold - that's the way I am, but if that doesn't happen I will take a lot of experience away and hopefully enjoy it."
Hill became the youngest winner of a senior World Cup in skeet shooting last year.
