Pankaj Advani has made snooker history by becoming the first Indian player to reach the quarter-finals of a world-ranking event.
The 27-year-old, who is a multiple world billiards champion, reached the last eight of the Welsh Open with 4-1 victory over Graeme Dott.
Advani also beat another former world champion, Shaun Murphy, in round one, in what it his first season on the main snooker tour.
"I am surprising myself with this run but I'm just going with the flow and trying to keep winning," Advani told worldsnooker.com.
"It's exciting to be playing against the best in the world, at the top level and under the best conditions."
Advani will now face world number two Judd Trump in the quarter-finals.
