Mark Selby is confident for the remainder of the snooker season after winning his first snooker title for 11 months to retain the Paul Hunter Classic in Germany.

Mark Selby has said that he is confident for the remainder of the snooker season after winning his first title in 11 months.

Selby beat veteran Joe Swail 4-1 in the final to retain the Paul Hunter Classic in Furth at the weekend.

The world number one had been struggling with injury and form, but admits that his latest tour win has given him confidence.

He said: "I've been struggling for a while with the injury and my game, so it's great to win another title.

"I didn't make many mistakes in the final and that gives me confidence going into the rest of the season.

"Also, it's nice to be guaranteed a place in the PTC finals already."

The 29-year-old's victory ended hopes of a fairytale finish for Swail.

Swail dropped off the main tour last season after 22 years a professional. He competed in Germany as an amateur, and made it all the way to the final, only to come up short.

Selby will be back in action soon, with the next PTC even taking place in Gloucester from September 5 to September 9.
