Willie Thorne believes that cheating is getting 'stamped out' of snooker following the 12-year ban issued to Stephen Lee for match-fixing.

Ex-snooker player Willie Thorne believes that cheating within the sport is getting rightfully 'stamped out'.

Former world number five Stephen Lee was hit with a 12-year ban today after he was found guilty of fixing seven matches between 2008 and 2009.

"While the door is open to this sort of thing at the end of the day any one who is found cheating should be banned," Thorne told Sky Sports News. "At least now we're stamping it out.

"I was approached and someone offered me £20,000 to lose a match against Joe Johnson but I refused it. Barry Hearn has got the game as squeaky clean as it can be now."

Lee has confirmed that he will appeal against the ban.
