John Higgins has booked a place in the second round of the UK Championships in York after beating Malta's Alex Borg.
The 38-year-old secured a 6-2 victory to move into the next round of the competition.
His fellow Scotsman Stephen Maguire has also progressed to the next stage following a 6-2 victory over Sanderson Lam.
Earlier this week, Liang Wenbo failed to make 100th maximum break during his victory over Elliot Slessor in the first round after missing the final yellow in the eighth frame.
