Nick Matthew and James Willstrop both made swift work of their first-round opponents to convincingly progress in the men's singles at the Commonwealth Games.
England's flag bearer Matthew booked his place in the last 32 by beating Xavier Koening of Mauritius on his 100th competitive international appearance.
Willstrop, who is England's number two, cruised through his tie with Bermuda's Nicholas Kyme to record a comfortable 11-4 11-3 11-4 victory in Glasgow.
World champion Matthew told reporters after his win: "That reception for a first round was incredible. I was maybe expecting a low-key affair but it was anything but."
Matthew was presented with a shirt before his match to celebrate a century of England caps.
