England swimmer Elizabeth Simmonds has said that she is hoping to set her best time of the season in this evening's 200m backstroke final at the Commonwealth Games.
The 23-year-old was the second fastest in this morning's heats with a time of 2:10.81.
Following this morning's heats, she told reporters: "It was a good, solid morning swim, I think it's actually one of the fastest morning swims I've done for a long time. I'm pleased with that time, it was a solid swim and hopefully it puts me in good stead for tonight.
"It would be good to get on the podium, this is a world class field, that was proven last night, so to get up there would be fantastic, but I'm just looking to better my season's best and it all bodes well."
Simmonds finished fifth in the 100m final yesterday after posting the quickest time of the semi-finals.
