Rebecca Adlington believes that Great Britain has never had such a strong squad of swimmers heading into an Olympic Games.
Adlington was part of the British team that took part in the recent Olympic trials at the Aquatics Centre, where she won the 400m and 800m freestyle.
However, the 23-year-old is expecting that she will not be the only Briton challenging for gold this summer.
"It used to be a case at major swimming championships of 'oh, that's little old GB over there'," she told The London Evening Standard. "Now we're properly getting noticed as a threat. This is definitely the best squad we've had.
"British swimming is fantastic right now, it's growing stronger and we're looking so good.
"So many people are fighting for the top spots, as we saw over the last week, and that's such a positive thing going into the Games."
Thirty-eight swimmers have already been selected for the British swimming squad.
