The 23-year-old, who will also represent Britain in the 400m freestyle, posted a time of 8m 18.54s at the Aquatics Centre in London.
Ellie Faulkner earned her place in the event at the Games by coming second.
Elsewhere, Lizzie Simmonds won the 200m backstroke to book a place in the Team GB squad, but second-placed Steph Proud misses out after she finished just outside of the qualification time.
