Rebecca Adlington has revealed that she will make a "major announcement" next week, sparking rumours she is about to call time on her swimming career.
The London 2012 bronze medallist, who has hinted at retirement in the past, previously ruled out competing at the next Olympic Games in Rio.
Adlington was recently involved in a high-profile dispute with British Swimming, reacting angrily to the governing body's probe into the team's below-par performance at the last Olympics.
The 23-year-old also criticised the organisation over its delay in appointing a successor to team coach Dennis Pursley, who stepped down after London 2012.
Adlington's long-time coach Bill Furniss has been linked with the role.
