Helen Gordon, the first Scottish female to win gold at the Commonwealth Games in the pool, has died at the age of 80.
Gordon triumphed in the 1950 Games in New Zealand, winning the 220-yard breaststroke to take the historic gold medal for her nation.
The Scot, who was due to present medals at this month's Commonwealth Games in her hometown of Glasgow, also picked up a relay bronze at the same event, before adding two more gold medals to her collection four years later in Vancouver.
In 1952, Gordon was the only Briton to win a medal in the swimming event in Helsinki, taking bronze once more.
