Michael Jamieson grateful for support

Scotland swimmer Michael Jamieson admits that the Commonwealth Games did not go how he had hoped, but is grateful for the messages of support that he has received.

Michael Jamieson has taken to Twitter to thank those who have maintained their support of him despite his failure to win gold at the Commonwealth Games.

The Scot was favourite for the 200m breaststroke, an event in which he is the Olympic champion, but he could only come second to compatriot Ross Murdoch.

In the aftermath of that result, Jamieson failed to qualify for the 100m breaststroke final and he has admitted that his home Games has not gone as he had hoped.

However, he is glad that his disappointment has been somewhat cancelled out by an excellent display from team Scotland's swimmers.

"Huge thanks for all the well wishes in the past week, it's been amazing," he tweeted.

"I didn't get the results I wanted but as a team, we've had a great week. Time to relax and enjoy the rest of the Games. Excited to watch the finals tonight at the pool, get behind the team."

Jamieson is the British record holder for men's 200m breaststroke.
