Team GB's women's 4x100m medley relay team speak to Sports Mole after picking up a bronze medal at the European Games in Baku.

Great Britain's women's 4x100m medley relay team have described winning a bronze medal at the European Games this evening as "absolutely amazing".

A quartet of Rebecca Sherwin, Amelia Clynes, Layla Black and Georgia Coates recorded a time of 4:09.10 to clinch the final podium spot, more than four seconds faster than their qualifying time and 0.29 seconds in front of fourth-placed Germany.

A dominant Russia took gold at the Baku Aquatics Centre, while Netherlands pulled away towards the end to claim silver.

Shortly after the event, the team spoke to Sports Mole about their achievement and how they were inspired by another successful day in the pool for Team GB.

Congratulations girls, are you happy with bronze?

Sherwin: "It's been absolutely amazing. We just went in hoping to get a medal and we came out with one. It's been absolutely amazing to race with these guys and when all the hard work pays off it's an amazing feeling. I can't really put it into words."

You must be happy with that time as well, taking more than four seconds off your qualifying pace...

Sherwin: "Yeah, we switched three people from the heats to the final, so we weren't sure how it was going to work. But it really paid off and it was great."

It got very close at the end, but you brought it home for the team Georgia - what was going through your mind as the Germans started to catch up?

Coates: "When I went to do the takeover I knew it was going to be close. Russia were already far ahead but there were three teams that were very close. I just knew that I had to give everything.

"I couldn't see them, so I just went for it and looked at the scoreboard. It was amazing. When you touch you have no idea. You can see your teammates' reaction, but when you turn around, that's when you know."

Did the rest of you know before the scoreboard confirmed the result?

Black: "I had a second of doubt that we'd come fourth."

Clynes: "We all just kind of stopped silent like 'Oh my God', and then we started screaming."

Sherwin: "It was in the last 15 metres when we knew she was catching us that we started going mental."

Black: "The Russians next to us, they got a World Junior record and they were just stood there silent, and we were like 'keep going!'"

The Russians were very impressive today - was there ever any chance of you catching them or was silver realistically the best you could hope for?

Clynes: "I think there's always a chance you can maybe beat them, but they are very strong competitors. You can kind of hope for a DQ knowing them!"

That's now a gold, two silvers and two bronzes from five relay events for Team GB - how much does that success inspire you?

Black: "We've done amazing. I think this is one of the best we've done in relay. We've literally come here and got a medal in every event."

Sherwin: "It does help you knowing that the rest of GB is swimming well, so you're probably going to swim well."

Black: "It does inspire you, like 'oh they've got a medal - I want a medal!'"

Sherwin: "It's such a good team to be a part of."
