Team GB's Emma Cain tells Sports Mole that she is "thrilled" with her performance in the final of the women's 100m breaststroke final at the European Games.

Great Britain's Emma Cain has described herself as "thrilled" following her performance in the women's 100m breaststroke final at the European Games today.

Cain finished the race in fifth place, 1.4 seconds off a bronze medal and one spot behind teammate Layla Black.

Despite missing out on a place on the podium, the 15-year-old was happy with her performance following a training regime that was disrupted by her GCSEs.

"I'm pretty thrilled. I've never been in an 100m breaststroke final. I missed out, I came ninth last year, so it was quite an achievement for me to come in after the 200m missing out. I felt like the race was a bit slower than my semis," she told Sports Mole.

"I had GCSEs so my training has been altered quite a lot around that. It was good and a season best for me, so it's great. Obviously I hoped for a medal but I wasn't that lucky. But I did my best and there's nothing else I could ask for at this point in time.

"Training's going to get harder but I'm going to push myself and hopefully the more I push myself, the better I'll come. After GCSEs it's going to be a push to Rio."

Great Britain are currently second in the swimming medals table, behind only Russia.
