Team GB's Caitlin McClatchey has secured her place in the semi-finals of the women's 200m freestyle at the Olympics.
The 26-year-old emerged victorious in her heat with a finish time of 1:58.03, the seventh-fastest overall.
Italy's Federica Pellegrini recovered from a sluggish first length to record the fastest time of 1:57.16. Missy Franklin of the United States was close behind on 1:57.62.
Franklin's compatriot Allison Schmitt won her heat and booked a place in the last 16 with a finish time of 1:57.33.
Team GB's Rebecca Turner bowed out of the competition after finishing sixth in her heat.
