Former Commonwealth champion Caitlin McClatchey announces that she is retiring from the sport at the age of 29.

Caitlin McClatchey has revealed that she is excited to begin a new chapter in her life after announcing her retirement from swimming.

McClatchey has represented Great Britain at three Olympic Games as well as winning two Commonwealth gold medals, but the Scot has insisted that she is happy to bring the curtain down on her career.

In a statement, the 29-year-old said: "I have some amazing memories and I am very proud of my achievements in the sport. My career highlight was when I became double Commonwealth Champion and won Scotland's first gold medal at the Melbourne Commonwealth Games.

"I'm very excited to be starting a new chapter and taking on new challenges. Once I have finished my Masters degree in Performance Psychology, I want to be involved in sport and help others to perform at the highest level.

"I'm looking forward to supporting the next generation of British swimmers and watching them achieve incredible things at the Rio Olympics next year."

At London 2012, McClatchey reached the final of the 200m freestyle final, where she finished in seventh place.
