James Guy has said that Great Britain put in a "huge team effort" to secure the gold medal in the men's 4x200m freestyle relay at the World Swimming Championships in Russia.
The 19-year-old swam the anchor leg in a time of 1:44.74, quicker than the time he swam to win the individual 200m freestyle gold, to ensure that the British team finished just ahead of the United States.
"That was great. It was a huge team effort. The guys set it up nice and good and I knew if I was top three I had a chance of bringing it back but I never thought we'd get the gold," The Guardian quotes Guy as saying.
"It's the best British team we've ever had and this relay is definitely something we're going to look out for next year. It was all about staying calm and not getting too tense in the first 100m. You've just got to enjoy it. The main thing is to come here and have fun."
Britain has won five golds, a silver and two bronzes so far at the World Championships.
