Great Britain's Molly Renshaw has won the bronze medal in the women's 200m breaststroke final at the FINA Swimming Short Course World Championships in Abu Dhabi.

The 25-year-old finished behind USA's Emily Escobedo and Russia's Evgeniia Chikunova on the final day of action, earning Britain their second medal of the championships.

Earlier in the day, Germany's Florian Wellbrock set a new world record en route to gold in the men's 1,500m freestyle final, becoming just the fifth male swimmer to win the event at both the Long Course and Short Course World Championships.

Ranomi Kromowidjojo was forced to settle for silver in the women's 50m freestyle as Sweden's Sarah Sjostrom took gold in a championship-record time.

However, the Dutch swimmer picked up his 27th medal at a Short Course World Championship, drawing level with Katinka Hosszu in second on the all-time list.

Canada's Maggie Mac Neil is well on course to challenge that total after claiming her fourth gold of the championships in the women's 100m butterfly.

Radoslaw Kawecki's victory in the 200m backstroke saw him become the first swimmer to win a specific backstroke event four times at the Short Course World Championships, while Nic Fink took gold in the men's 50m breaststroke.

USA won the women's 4x50m freestyle relay, while Italy's Alessandro Miressi took gold in the men's 100m freestyle before helping his country to victory in the 4x100m medley relay. body check tags ::
