Great Britain's Molly Renshaw and defending champion Yuliya Efimova have failed to reach tonight's 200m breaststroke semi-finals at the World Championships in Kazan.
The 19-year-old Brit, who won silver in this event at last year's European Championships, paced herself in the first 100m of heat three and was slightly behind the leaders.
In the final 50m, the Brit made a late surge, but she could only touch the wall in fifth place in 2:26.32, while Efimova of Russia finished fourth.
The 23-year-old went for a tactical swim by dropping behind in the early stages of the race, but she failed to make up the time, which has cost her a place in tonight's showdown.
Britain currently top the medal table with four golds, two of which have been won by breaststroke specialist Adam Peaty.
