Team GB swimmer Adam Peaty has spoken of the importance of downtime with his family as he prepares to fight for gold at the Rio Olympics this summer.

The 21-year-old heads to Brazil in fine form having won 14 major medals in the past two-and-a-half years.

The breaststroke star struck gold twice at the Commonwealth Games in 2014, before winning four golds at the European Championships and winning three at the World Championships in the following year.

In 2016, Peaty has already claimed top spot on the podium four times after winning the 50m and 100m breaststroke, as well as the 4x100m medley and 4x100m mixed relay at the Europeans in London.

As well as a bulging medal cabinet, the Uttoxeter-born swimmer holds the world records for the 50m and 100m breaststroke.

Away from the pool, Team GB's official partner DFS has taken an exclusive look at Peaty's home life.

"At DFS, we know the importance of home," said the British furniture retailer. "The value of proper rest and relaxation can be sometimes overlooked, but it has the power to make us truly great.

"The athletes we've been working with have shown us that, and we can't wait to bring that 'home' feeling to Rio for all of Team GB. Talent made in Britain, starts at home."

DFS, which has also gained access to the daily lives of Olympic cyclist Laura Trott and gymnast Max Whitlock, recently celebrated Team GB by unveiling a limited edition sofa named The Britannia.
