Sascha Kindred has set a new world record on his way to 200m swimming gold at the Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.
The 38-year-old Brit clocked a time of 2:38.47 in the individual medley in the SM6 classification, beating the time of 2:38.62 set in London by China's Xu Qing, who could only finish fourth today.
Kindred had earlier been disqualified from competing in the final race after committing an illegal kick in the heats, but was reinstated following a successful appeal.
The silver medal went the way of Xu's compatriot Jia Hongguang, who was exactly one second back, while the bronze went to home favourite Talisson Glock.
Kindred - currently competing at his sixth Paralympic Games - now has 13 medals to his name, including seven golds.
