After the drama of Great Britain’s Magic Monday, the medals continued to come for the team on day four of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

There was further success in the pool as Tom Dean and Duncan Scott made history while Georgia Taylor-Brown took silver in the triathlon and there was bronze in both the gymnastics and dressage.

Here, the PA news agency looks back on another successful day for Team GB and casts an eye towards Wednesday’s medal hopes.

Making a splash

Dean stormed to victory in the men’s 200 metres freestyle and Britain were left to celebrate a famous one-two after Scott collected silver at the Tokyo Aquatics Centre.

Dean, who twice contracted coronavirus last year, was third heading into the final 50 metres while Scott was down in sixth at the halfway stage, but the pair finished strongly as Team GB occupied the top two steps of an Olympic swimming podium for the first time since 1908.

Geraint Thomas will be looking to recover from a crash in the Olympic road race as he aims for gold in the time trial at 0600BST, with the men’s coxless four of Sholto Carnegie, Oliver Cook, Rory Gibbs and Matthew Rossiter aiming for gold in the final at 0210.

Jack Laugher is aiming to retain his gold from Rio as he and new partner Daniel Goodfellow compete in the 3m synchronised diving from 0700, with Charlotte Dujardin back at the equestrian centre for the individual dressage event at 0930.

There could be another day of swimming medals with the men’s 4x200m freestyle relay team in action, while Gemma Howell competes for women’s judo -70kg gold.

After their thrilling comeback win over the United States, Great Britain’s rugby sevens side will be looking to progress into the final when they clash with New Zealand in the last four.
