Team USA rivals Michael Phelps and Ryan Lochte have qualified for the final of the 400m individual medley at London 2012.
Phelps secured victory in the fourth heat, but his time of 4:13.33 was only enough to secure the eight lane in this evening's final.
Lochte fared slightly better with a time of 4:12.35, though he finished second in the fifth heat to South Africa's Chad le Clos, who finished in 4:12.24.
Japan's Kosuke Hagino racked up the fastest time in the heats, putting him in pole position for the final, finishing in 4:10.01.
Team GB's Joe Robuck and Roberto Pavoni bowed out with times of 4:20.24 and 4:15.56 respectively.
