Joanna Drinkhall admits that facing off against her fellow Team England competitors was "tough" after booking her place in the final of the mixed doubles at Glasgow 2014.

Joanna Drinkhall has admitted that she found it a difficult experience facing her England teammates in the mixed doubles table tennis semi-finals at the Commonwealth Games.

The 27-year-old booked a place in the final along with husband Paul Drinkhall after seeing off Danny Reed and Kelly Sibley 3-2 at the Scotstoun Sports Campus earlier today.

"Both pairs were not really expecting to make the semi-finals so it is definitely a good problem to have in that sense," Drinkhall told reporters.

Asked how she found competing against Sibley, who she had linked up with just moments before in the women's doubles event, she added: "It was tough. We are friends and doubles partners off the court, not even half an hour before that match we had been playing together.

"But we both knew that when we were on the court we were playing the ball and not each other."

Joanna and Paul Drinkhall will face fellow Team England competitors Liam Pitchford and Tin Tin Ho in the final.
