Jo-Wilfried Tsonga has revealed that he was "really happy" to claim his first win at the ATP World Tour Finals this afternoon.
The Frenchman achieved a straight-sets victory over Mardy Fish to ensure a chance of progressing to the semi-finals of the competition.
"Today it was the opportunity to win for the first time and I'm really happy," the 26-year-old told Sky Sports News after his match with Fish.
"I played good tennis and it is good to win my first match."
Next up for Tsonga is a final group fixture against world number two Rafael Nadal.
Tsonga had a warning for the Spaniard ahead of that fixture by saying: "I promise you I will play better in the next match."
Nadal first faces Roger Federer this evening.
