Three-time Australian Open quarter-finalist Tomas Berdych says that he feels well prepared to progress further in this year's Melbourne Grand Slam.

Australian Open quarter-finalist Tomas Berdych has claimed that he is currently in much better shape than he was 12 months ago.

The fifth seed, who lost to Rafael Nadal in the last eight of the Melbourne Grand Slam in 2012, has won all four of his matches in straight sets so far at this year's event.

"I feel much better," said Berdych. "The last year was a pretty big year for me. There were many new experiences that I learned. I hope that I'm going to be able to profit from that.

"On the other hand, I spent much more time on court last year. I'm going to need every single piece of energy for the next match.

"I feel pretty good. I have won every single match by three sets and everything has been fine. I feel physically well. I actually now hope that a big match is waiting for me."

Berdych will face the winner of the match between Novak Djokovic and Stanislas Wawrinka, which is currently in play on the Rod Laver Arena.
