Defeated quarter-finalist Jeremy Chardy says that he is happy with how his Australian Open tournament panned out.

World number 36 Jeremy Chardy has conceded that Andy Murray was just "too good" for him in their Australian Open quarter-final encounter.

The Frenchman's serve was broken eight times during the course of the match as third seed Murray clinched a resounding 6-4 6-1 6-2 victory in just one hour and 52 minutes on Rod Laver Arena.

However, Chardy, who was competing in his first ever Grand Slam quarter-final, said that he is still pleased with his efforts in Melbourne.

"I think I don't play bad today," said Chardy. "I played a good match, but he was too good for me.

"I have a chance and I thought I tried many things, but no chance for me. He was too good.

"I played a good tournament, so I'm still happy. But it's tough to lose with no solution."

Murray will play the winner of Roger Federer and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in the semi-finals.
