Novak Djokovic has said that he is "extremely honoured" to have joined some of the greats of men's tennis in the record books.
The Serb defeated Andy Murray in straight sets to clinch a sixth Australian Open title earlier today, equalling the record set by Roy Emerson during the amateur era.
It was also the 11th Grand Slam title of Djokovic's career, which has drawn him level with Rod Laver and Bjorn Borg.
"I'm extremely honoured to be mentioned alongside legends of our sport like Rod Laver and Roy Emerson," the world number one said during his on-court interview.
"To match the record of six Australian Opens of one of the greatest players of the game is a privilege."
Djokovic has lost just one match at Melbourne Park since 2011.
