Roger Federer has apologised to Australian Open fans after receiving a walkover into the third round.
The former world number one was gifted a spot in the next round of the tournament in Melbourne without playing his second-round tie after Andreas Beck withdrew from the clash with an injury.
"I would have loved to have played," said Federer. "I'm sorry to the fans, I was ready to go. I had a warm-up hit and was focused. I will rest up, hit intensely and get ready for my match."
The Swiss pro will have to defeat Ivo Karlovic to progress through to the fourth round in Australia.
